Task 1: Why is PSHE including RSE, important in the school’s curriculum?
PSHE as a whole does not have statutory guidance and it is largely up to schools to decide what is in their PSHE programme. However, since September 2020 many aspects of PSHE a re now statutory – RSE. It is important to make a distinction between Primary (Relationships Education KS1 and 2) and Secondary (Relationships and Sex Education KS3 and 4) and Health Education KS1 to 4 – known as RSHE (2.1 -500 to 750 words post TD2 f2f session)
Task 2:Examine the key features of the placement school’s PSHE including RSE provision This is asking the trainee’s to look at the overall provision of their placement school. It is important for them to understand how the provision changes as the pupils move through the Key Stages. The trainees will get an opportunity later to focus on one year group. For PSHE it is not statutory which enables schools to tailor their PSHE provision to reflect the specific needs of their pupils (2.2 – 500 to 750 words)
