Onboarding | Part 3 | Apply Task

1. Please watch the ‘Task 3: Apply’ video below.

2. Refresh your memory of the ‘Organising the Classroom for Learning’ text, which you read in the ‘Understand’ stage of your Onboarding. You will find this text below.

3. As described in the above video, we would like you to visit some of your colleagues’ classrooms at the end of the school day. Look around their rooms and reflect on your observations. How do these elements align to create an environment that is conducive to learning? Please use the below ‘Checklist for visiting Colleagues’ Classrooms’ to support you with this task. You can also speak to your colleagues about the choices that they have made in regard to their classroom organisation, displays and setup etc. and the impact that this has had on their pupils’ learning and their teaching.

4. Please either draw or take pictures of parts of their classrooms, resources, displays etc. for the next stage of this task.

5. Using the insights that you have gained from the ‘Organising the Classroom for Learning’ text and your observations from visiting colleagues’ classrooms, please complete the document below titled ‘Apply Task – My Ideal Classroom.’ You need to complete the table by providing us with examples of the strategies that you would take to create an ideal learning environment for your pupils. Please explain the impact that you believe that each strategy would have on your pupils and ensure that your arguments are supported by evidence from the ‘Organising the Classroom for Learning’ text.
