Is Teaching a Job or a Profession?
Trainees will examine what the characteristics are that define what a profession is compared to a job. For example, high standards of entry requirements, training programme, gain knowledge, skills and experience in that specialist area, professional qualification and CPD pre and post qualification (as new research can inform better practice, responsibilities, accountability to internal and external stakeholders, dedication/passion/commitment, professional regulatory bodies- codes of conduct and practice.
This assessment criteria expects trainees to rank order what they think are the most important characteristics that make teaching a profession and justify their decisions (5.1, 5.2)
NB: Assessed during TD2 as trainees will need to complete prep work, as well as in WB3
