1. This learning objective focusses on the activity or end point assessment of a unit of work that you want your pupils to complete, not on the knowledge, understanding or skills that you want them to gain as a result of your teaching.
2. You need to be specific about what you want them to LEARN, not what you want them do DO in the learning objective.
3. It would also be very difficult for your pupils to hit this learning objective without you first developing their knowledge, understanding and skills regarding the use of punctuation, grammar, vocabulary, characters and settings that would enable them writing a great story. A more suitable learning objective might be to use inverted commas correctly in speech or to be able to explain how the setting in an opening scene of a chapter contributes to the atmosphere created by the writer.
