Your First Training Session With Grad2Teach – TD1: Professional Values, Professional Skills and Behaviour for Learning

This week, you will attend your first formal training sessions on Teams – TD1: Part 1- Professional Values, Professional Skills and TD1: Part 2 – Behaviour for Learning. Each session will take place from 4.00-6.00pm on two consecutive evenings. Please book your place for each training event on the G2T calendar as you will for your study groups.

These sessions mark an important starting point in shaping your identity as a developing teacher. As you begin to explore what it truly means to be a teacher, this training will support you in translating the abstract – such as values, standards, and expectations – into tangible professional behaviours. You’ll consider how what you say, do, model, and prioritise contributes to a positive classroom and school culture.

In addition, we will explore the principles of “Behaviour for Learning” – recognising that this is not simply about enforcing rules. Instead, it’s about creating a learning environment where pupils feel safe, supported, and motivated. You’ll begin to understand how your own professional behaviour, presence, and organisation directly influence pupil behaviour and learning, and how your classroom culture is shaped by the environment that you work to create and maintain.
