Grad2Teach | Phase One Training | Consolidation Term
Welcome to your summer term on Grad2Teach’s Phase 1 Teacher Training course!
Congratulations on reaching the Consolidation term of your Phase 1 (P1) teacher training!
Some of you will already be working with your Professional Assessor (PA), using their feedback on your uploaded documents and formal observations to develop your teaching practice. Others will be starting to work with a PA this term.
Wherever you are in the process, it’s important to actively engage with your PA’s feedback to continue your development, especially if you’re planning to begin PGCE study later this year.
You’ll also have the opportunity to connect with the Teaching & Learning team and fellow Grad2Teach trainees at the final face-to-face training day.
This term you will revisit the Teachers’ Standards that were part of your first term’s training with us (TS4, TS7 and TS8, including Part 2 Personal and Professional Conduct), in a series of trainee-led seminars alongside the remaining Teachers’ Standards below:
- Subject Knowledge: Teacher Standard 3 (TS3) ‘Demonstrate good subject and curriculum knowledge’
- Setting High Expectations: Teacher Standard 1 (TS1) ‘Set high expectations which inspire, motivate and challenge pupils
You will continue to upload the following documents in the months of May and June, which must be labelled accurately:
2 x Lesson Plans (LP) – LP1, LP2, LP3, LP4
2 x Observing Colleagues (OC) – OC1, OC2, OC3, OC4
2x Strategies and Reflections documents focused on TS3 and TS1
You will also need to arrange to be observed by your ISM twice before July; one of these observations will be a joint observation with your Professional Assessor (PA)..
Continue to check the online calendar for your scheduled tutor group meetings, TLA sessions and trainee-led training sessions. Make sure you are aware of the deadlines for uploading your documents and completion of your ISM/PA observation – and Email Teaching & Learning if you’re not sure!
Final Assessment
The following pieces of work will make up your final assessment:
- Your portfolio and the quality of your uploaded documents and your engagement with your PA
- Your written assignment – ‘What Makes a Good Lesson?’
- Your VIVA
All the best in your final term of your Phase 1 Teacher Training Course from the Grad2Teach team!
One of the most valuable and effective layers of support available to trainees is the Grad2Teach Community. This community serves as a hub for collaboration, networking, and sharing of experiences among educators. Trainees are encouraged to join our Phase One (P1) and Assessment Only Route (AOR) WhatsApp Group, where they can connect with fellow trainees, ask questions, seek advice, and receive support in real time.

Continue to learn and contribute to our P1 and AOR WhatsApp Group to tap into a wealth of collective knowledge and experience: [WhatsApp Group Link: https://chat.whatsapp.com/E1ARUtQWZ0AID69o9o79b9]
