Grad2Teach | Phase 1 Training | January Start | Foundation Term
Welcome to your first term on the Grad2Teach Phase 1 Teacher Training course!
Your focus this term is on 4 of the key Teachers’ Standards that will enable you to move into term 2 of the course with confidence; both within the classroom and the wider school community. As part of your training you will be exposed to, and have opportunities to discuss, important pedagogy with the Grad2Teach Teaching and Learning Team (T&L Team) and our Professional Assessors (PAs) who have a wide range of expertise. Alongside this support you will have pastoral and teaching support from your Partnerships Coordinators (PCs), Course Manager and Course Director.
The 4 Teachers’ Standards for term 1 are:
- Professional Values: Teacher Standard 8 (TS8) ‘Fulfil wider professional responsibilities’ and Part 2 ‘Personal and Professional Conduct’ including safeguarding
- Behaviour Management: Teacher Standard 7 (TS7) ‘Manage behaviour effectively to ensure a good and safe learning environment’
- Lesson Planning: Teacher Standard 4 (TS4) ‘Plan and teach well structured lessons’
- Assessment with a focus on Formative Assessment: Teacher Standard 6 (TS6) ‘Make accurate and productive use of assessment’
The Trainee Hub is where you will create your portfolio with evidence of completed tasks, course modules and Grad2Teach documents. During your first term, you will practise completing the Grad2Teach documents accurately in preparation for terms 2 and 3, when you will work closely with your Professional Assessor.
Do regularly check the calendar for your scheduled PC Tutor Meetings, Training Sessions and Task Deadlines.
All the best in your first term as you start your journey to becoming a teacher with us at Grad2Teach, which, as you will find, is one of the most fulfilling, enjoyable, and rewarding professions!
