Welcome to Your Teaching Journey
Congratulations on taking this important step towards your teaching career! Over the next 12 weeks, you’ll begin developing the knowledge, skills, and confidence needed to become an integral member of your school community.
You’ll also have the chance to use your experience to make a meaningful contribution to both pupils and colleagues.
This course has been designed to support you in key areas such as pedagogy, safeguarding, classroom management, and reflective practice. You’ll be encouraged to think critically, engage actively, and begin shaping your professional identity.
Most importantly—you won’t be on this journey alone. The Grad2Teach team is here to guide and support you every step of the way.
Key Information
Your Trainee Portfolio
Each week, you’ll complete 2–4 tasks that build your portfolio of evidence. These will include:
- Researching your school and key policies
- Observing how teachers work and support learning
- Reflecting in your Independent Learning Journal (ILJ)
- Planning learning experiences for pupils
- Completing two written assignments (approx. 1500 words each)
Your Responsibilities & Personal Growth
Show a solid commitment to your training:
- Set aside 2–4 hours per week to complete your portfolio tasks
- Engage in regular professional discussions with colleagues and your In-School Mentor
Your assessment focuses on three core areas:
- Professional Values
- Professional Skills
- Pedagogy
You may submit additional evidence to strengthen your portfolio and enhance your employability.
