Week 1

It’s Week 1 of the L4 Award in Teaching Fundamentals course.

Last week, we asked you to concentrate on getting to know the fundamentals of your new workplace – including its rules, expectations, daily schedules, staff members, and key locations. This week, your portfolio work begins.

Here are your reminders for the tasks and activities that you need to complete this week:

(1) Complete your Training Day 1 Reflections on Professional Values and Behaviour for Learning.

(2) Begin conducting research about your school and completing the Settling-In Checklist, which features 24 questions to complete, as well as a series of prompts to talk about with your ISM (In-School Mentor). The finished checklist will come in handy when you’re considering how to add value in your School Community Project (project proposal due in W5).
Please note that it may take you the first 2-3 weeks to get all the information ticked off.

(3) Complete your first Independent Learning Journal (ILJ) entry on your first week at your placement school.
